Anti-Ragging Cell

An Anti-ragging Cell has been established in TRR Government Degree College, Kandukur as per the Supreme Court directives on ragging (2007), the Supreme Court judgment on ragging (2009) and the subsequent UGC regulations to curb the menace of ragging (2009) to wipe out the menace from the college campus.

Ragging means when any senior or person with power makes juniors or freshers or anyone subordinate to them indulging in any act which causes, or is likely to cause any physical, psychological or physiological harm of apprehension or shame or embarrassment to a studentis ragging.

The UGC has issued detailed regulations for curbing the menace of ragging in Higher Educational Institutions. As per UGC regulations any of the following acts come under the purview of ragging.

  • Any conduct by any student or student whether by words (spoken or written) or by an act which has the effect of teasing, treating or handling with rudeness a fresher or any other student.
  • Indulging in rowdy or in disciplined activities by any student or students which cause or is likely to cause annoyance, hardship physical or psychological harm or to raise fear or apprehension there of in any fresher or any other student.
  • Asking any student to do any act which such student will not in the ordinary course do and which has the effect of causing or generating a sense of shame, or torment or embarrassment so as to adversely affect the psyche of such fresher or any other student
  • Any act by a senior student that prevents, disturb the regular academic activity of any other student or a fresher;
  • Exploiting the services of a fresher or any other student for completing the academic task assigned to an individual or a group of students.
  • Any act of physical abuse including all variants of it; sexual abuse, homosexual assaults, stripping, forcing for obscene and lewd acts, gestures, causing bodily harm or any other danger to health or person
  • Any act or abusive spoken words, e-mails, public insults which would also include deriving perverted pleasure, vicarious or sadistic thrill from actively or passively participating in the discomfiture to fresher or any other student
  • Any act that affects the mental health and self-confidence of a fresher or any other student

 

OBJECTIVES OF ANTI- RAGGING CELL:

Anti-Ragging Cell is a Supervisory and Advisory Committee in preserving a culture of ragging-free environment in the college campus. The main objectives of this cell are as follows:

  1. To sensitise students about the evils of ragging and making awareness among the students
  2. To maintain decorum in the College and bring a sense of responsibility amongst the students
  3. To keep a continuous watch and vigil over ragging so as to prevent its occurrence and recurrence.
  4. Promptly and stringently deal with the incidents of ragging brought to its notice.
  5. To generate an atmosphere of discipline by sending a clear message that no act of ragging shall be tolerated and any act of ragging shall not go unnoticed and unpunished.

Action taken against the student found guilty:


Upon investigation and complete impartial scrutiny of the matter by the Anti-Ragging Committee, the student/s found guilty of ragging at the institution level shall be any one or any combination of the following:

1.   Cancellation of admission

2.   Suspension from attending classes

3.   Withholding results

4.   Withholding/withdrawing scholarship/fellowship and other benefits

5.   Debarring from appearing examination

6.   Debarring from representing the College in sports and cultural events

7.   Expulsion from the hostel

8.   Expulsion from the institution and consequent debarring from admission to any other institution.

Further, a First Information Report (FIR) will be lodged with the local Police authorities against them under the respective laws.

Complaint Mechanism :

 

Complaints against any student indulging in ragging should be immediately brought to the notice of the Members of Anti- Ragging Cell.

The Complaints can be made by the victim student or any friend of the victim student or the Class Representative of the Student or by any person having knowledge of the incident.

The Complaints made to be the Anti- Ragging Cell will be Confidential and not made public in any manner.

The Complaint can be made either in writing or telephonically or in digital form – email or through the Google form (https://forms.gle/H43W5kQFsLFeQ8Ed8) placed on the website, which has been created for the purpose of registration of complaints.
